A THOUSAND PAPERCUTS:
A SUPPORT & PROCESS GROUP FOR HEALING MINORITY STRESS
This group is for individuals belonging to a stigmatized minority group (primary focus will be with sexual, racial, and gender minorities) that have developed skills to survive these oppressive forces to date but wish to heal and learn new skills to thrive. This group is for minorities who want to heal the wounds of painful societal forces and dissolve the barriers which interfere with finding joy and satisfaction in work, love, and play; for minorities who are ready to go for being fully alive.
In this group program, we specifically help clients focus on the following goals:
* learn more about minority stress and how it impacts their psycho-biology;
* become aware of the symptoms from internalized oppression;
* learn stabilization and resourcing skills;
* heal from minority stress
Ideal clients are relatively functional in the world, but struggle with symptoms of traumatic reactivity that impact their relationships with others (e.g. heightened sensitivity, difficulty letting go of negative thoughts, difficulty managing emotions, etc). It is not uncommon for minorities to have additional traumatic experience of abuse and neglect, and may need additional support via individual therapy to be able to participate in the group experience.
12 week minimum commitment. $70 per session
